Every so often, a story catches the heart before it reaches the ear. That’s what happened when Sweet Songs Records came across an article by Joanna Malvas, whose thoughtful reporting on the strain facing UMass healthcare workers became the spark behind our Americana Project release “Too Many Patients (To Be Patient).”
The song’s roots are in resilience — the kind of quiet strength it takes to keep showing up, even when the system feels stretched thin. It’s both a reflection on our local community and a tribute to those who keep caring when patience itself is in short supply.
We’re deeply grateful to Joanna for her kind words after hearing the song. As she said, she was honored to have inspired the work — and that sense of mutual respect is what makes community-based music so powerful.
